Conversación con jurado Elizabeth Peak sobre “The Long Wave Home” cuadro recipiente del premio del Potomac Valley Watercolorists

The Art League, 2015

“Three artworks stood out for special recognition the juror. For the Potomac Valley Watercolorists’ Award, Peak selected The Long Wave Home Marie Valle-Riestra, noting the artists’ combination of control and discovery with the medium — something that watercolor requires. In addition to this technical prowess, the piece’s vertical composition, unusual for the subject matter of waves, created a unique perspective.”

Palabras de Jurado Gretchen Schermer sobre “Poise”, segundo puesto en la exposicion de formato pequeño,

The Art League, Noviembre 2013:

“Poise” Maria Valle Riestra captured second place. Schermerhorn was drawn to the minimalism and simplicity, and how the artist was able to imply so much with just a few brush strokes. “The artist uses both the positive and negative space well. There’s a nice combination of loose and tight marks and a sophisticated color palette”

Menciones honrosas de Lenny Campello Capitol Hill Art League, 2012. Reportado por Daniel Glucksman and Jacqueline;Saunders for Capitol Hill Art League Octubre 2012 Newsletter. http://www.caphillartleague.org/PDFs/newsletters/Fall2012.pdf:

He admired her energy and her great control of the watercolor—wonderful color mixing using the color of mud without getting mud and with no fear of using white paint, which is challenging to pull off successfully. Campello noted that this artist has made many mistakes and he has learned to admire someone who can use mistakes to make a point. Tati seems to have been able to use mistakes to her advantage. She also captures movement and matter, which is more than a technical skill. Lenny chose all three of Tati’s pieces.”

Palabras de Jurado Susan Frank sobre “Renee” recipiente de una mención honrosa. The Art League, Exhibicion de formato pequeño, Noviembre 2008:

“Frank was also impressed with “Renee,” Maria Valle-Riestra, for the beautiful handling of the ink, brushwork, and sense of freshness.”
